Amoeba polypodia

Amoeba polypodia, also known as the polypody amoeba, is a species of giant amoeba. It extends its body into multiple pods, complete with separate sense organs. Then, the amoeba will only have one pod visible at a time, which will shrink away when anything approaches. This confuses predators, thinking that there are multiple creatures and tiring it out with a game of monkey-in-the-middle, chasing alternating pods.
